ShortLegal, APC represents California employees in serious workplace disputes, including wage-and-hour litigation, class actions, PAGA representative actions, wrongful termination, retaliation, discrimination, harassment, severance and separation agreement review, and related employment matters.
Led by Brian R. Short, an attorney with more than 20 years of complex litigation and class action experience, ShortLegal brings serious litigation judgment to employee-side workplace claims. Brian’s work has helped recover more than $50 million for employees and more than $1.7 billion on behalf of clients in complex class action litigation.
Employment Litigation Focused on the Right Strategy
Employment disputes can involve more than one legal issue. A termination may involve retaliation. A separation agreement may release wage claims. A wage dispute may reveal a broader employer policy. A discrimination or harassment complaint may lead to retaliation, discipline, or forced resignation.
ShortLegal evaluates both the legal substance of the employee’s claims and the best procedural path for pursuing those claims.
Separation Review
Offered a Separation Agreement? Review It Before You Sign.
Severance is almost never a gift. It is usually a contract. Employers rarely offer severance without asking for something in return. In exchange for money or benefits, employees are usually asked to release claims, waive rights, accept confidentiality or non-disparagement terms, limit future communications, make representations about wages or workplace events, or agree to other obligations that may affect them after employment ends.
Don’t sign away your rights.
Have an employment lawyer review the agreement first.
